I am an herbalist living in Western Oregon these days, having transplanted from NYState in 2005. Getting to know a whole new climate, meeting brand new plants, meeting well-known plants acting entirely differently and seeing the world through my grandchildren has been the greatest mid-life party I could have hoped for.
Writing is a pleasure. I think through my fingers and type as fast as I talk. To be able to illustrate my own stuff with my own photos only expands the joy, I’m lovin’ this.
I make my own products and teach online herb classes, all of which can be found at my web site www.ladybarbara.net
Thanks for coming to visit! ~LadyB

Lady Barbara, I’ve just stumbled on your website and blog and am very glad to make your aquaintance. I read on your webpage that you’ve had a rough time of it lately, and I’m rooting for you! (no pun intended)
There is a snippet of a poem I’d like to share with you, actually from a novel by Doris Lessing – the book is called Briefing for a Descent Into Hell, quite a lovely book, actually, despite the name. Anyway, it captures how I feel about the plants, and I thought you’d “get” it.
Under my hand,
flesh of flowers,
Under my hand,
warm landscape,
You have given me back my world,
in you, the earth breathes under my hand
My arms were full of charred branches
My arms were full of painful sand
Now I sway in rank forest,
I dissolve in strong river
I am the bone, the flowers in flesh
My very kindest regards, Christine
